How does an EMT use it and who is billed?
ANSWER:
In general it is becoming more and more prevalent to see an EMT with an iPad, SmartPhone, or other similar connective device.  In the event that there is an emergency, the patient will have identification of being a subscriber (whether independently or through their primary care) of being on the MEDISCRIBE© System.  The EMT simply locates the patient’s IPI Card or their identity number and is able to access the patient’s critical medical information.
If the EMT is a subscriber to the MEDISCRIBE© System then they will be directly billed and it will be reflected in charges to the patient or to the patient’s insurance company.  If the EMT is not part of the System then the patient will be charged directly.
